The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) seeks a senior Grants Manager in Brussels to oversee financial and contractual management of grants, lead a small team and coordinate donor reporting. The role requires extensive grant-making expertise, strong financial judgement and language skills in English and Arabic/Turkish/Farsi.

You will contribute to proposals, donor reporting and the further development of EED’s grants management systems and practices, with a focus on compliance and strategic

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field with substantive experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience, including 5+ years in management.
• Strong grant-making and financial procedure knowledge.
• Experience with democracy-support donors in government or civil society.
• Excellent English and Arabic/Turkish/Farsi language skills.
• Advanced Excel and digital skills.

Responsabilités

• Oversee financial and contractual management of EED grants across portfolios.
• Review budgets, financial reports and donor documentation for compliance.
• Manage grant contracts, amendments and payments; lead approvals.
• Provide strategic guidance on grants and funds management.
• Lead a team of staff and consultants; mentor colleagues.
• Prepare financial components of funding proposals and donor reports.
• Support donor grants management, expenditure monitoring and reporting.
• Contribute to negotiations of donor agreements and data records.
• Maintain grants data across management systems and knowledge base.
• Engage donors and stakeholders; align with organisational priorities.
