European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is hiring an Internal Accountant in Brussels to cover maternity leave for eight months, with possible extension. The role involves broad accounting, financial, operational, compliance and audits work, especially during a transition to new accounting software.

You will report to the Head of Finance, supervising data entry, reconciliations, VAT returns, and liaising with suppliers. Fluency in French and English is required.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• At least 5 years full-time experience in financial accounting.
• Minimum 2 years with a Belgium registered company.
• Fluent in French and English.

Responsabilités

• Process accounting transactions in the custom software and project ledger.
• Post journal entries including payroll, expenses, revenue and grants.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconciliations.
• Support year-end closure and statutory audit processes.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns (TVA).
• Manage Peppol account and liaise with suppliers for billing discrepancies.
• Ensure allocations are accurate for local administration and audits.
• Contribute to development of accounting processes and new software implementation.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with policies.
