Polytra, part of the Fracht Group, is seeking a Senior Freight Forwarder to independently run demanding ocean import files, coordinate multimodal moves, and resolve complex customs questions from our Berchem head office near Antwerp.

You will negotiate with carriers and partners, protect margins, and contribute to digitisation while growing within a global network of 150+ offices and 2,500 colleagues.

Qualifications

• At least five years in ocean import forwarding.
• Strong grasp of customs, incoterms and multimodal chains.
• Dutch and English, spoken and written.

Function

Our General Cargo team handles a high volume of ocean import files. We are looking for a Senior Freight Forwarder who runs the demanding ones independently — the multimodal moves, the exceptions, and the customs questions that have no standard answer.

COMPLEX FILES

• You run demanding ocean import files end to end, on your own judgement.
• You handle multimodal moves, exceptions and non-standard customs questions.
• You decide quickly when a shipment stops behaving as planned.

CARRIERS & PARTNERS

• You negotiate and follow up with shipping lines, transport partners and agents.
• You inform customers before they have to ask.
• You hold partners to what was agreed.

CONTROL & FOLLOW-UP

• You guard the margin: costs, charges and the closing of every file.
• You flag what keeps going wrong, so it gets fixed at the source.

Profile

WHAT YOU BRING

• At least five years in ocean import forwarding.
• A strong grasp of customs, incoterms and multimodal chains.
• Dutch and English, spoken and written.
• Calm and decisive when a file gets complicated, and clear towards customers when the news is not good.

Nice to have, not a must

• CargoWise or a similar forwarding system.
• Experience with non-standard customs questions.
