Pauwels Consulting, for a leading energy-sector client in Brussels, seeks a high-impact IT architect to oversee the enterprise IT landscape for corporate functions, AI initiatives and market services. Translate business capabilities into actionable roadmaps and blueprints; govern architectures; manage portfolios; and advise on cost, risk and complexity to enable executive decisions.

Start date 19/10/2026; duration 3 months (renewable); full-time, hybrid (2 days onsite) in Brussels; contract open

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT architecture in corporate domains (Finance, HR, Procurement, Corporate Services).
• Expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks and modeling using TOGAF and ArchiMate.
• Advanced practices: Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event Storming, Agile Architecture.
• Strong background in AI target architectures, AI reference patterns and AI governance incl. EU AI Act.
• Experience with SAP products and integration architecture patterns.
• Proficient in evaluation methods such as ATAM and Gartner TIME.
• Deep understanding of security, availability and resilience in critical infrastructure.
• Excellent communication with C-suite and engineering teams.
• Collaborative leadership balancing innovation with long-term sustainability.

Responsabilités

This role acts as a pragmatic bridge between ambitious business initiatives and robust technical realizations to ensure a future-proof and secure infrastructure. The successful candidate will drive strategic roadmaps while aligning technical blueprints with long-term organizational goals.

• Translate high-level organizational capabilities into actionable IT roadmaps and detailed blueprints in collaboration with business architecture teams.
• Define and enforce domain-specific principles and standards while ensuring alignment with reference architectures and group-level governance.
• Lead architectural governance by presenting designs to review boards and documenting strategic logic through Architectural Decision Records.
• Manage the application and platform portfolio by conducting regular assessments to reduce technical debt and optimize operational costs.
• Provide strategic advisory through trade-off analyses regarding cost, risk, and complexity to facilitate executive decision-making.
• Govern data models and integration patterns to ensure interoperability between enterprise systems and analytics platforms.
• Define architectural measures for business continuity, disaster recovery, and compliance with critical infrastructure regulations.

• You have 8+ years of experience in IT architecture within corporate domains such as Finance, HR, Procurement, and Corporate Services.
• You possess expert knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and modeling using TOGAF and ArchiMate.
• You bring advanced experience with modern design practices including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event Storming, and Agile Architecture.
• You have a strong background in AI target architectures, AI reference patterns, and AI governance including the EU AI Act.
• You're experienced with SAP products and integration architecture patterns.
• You possess analytical rigor in using evaluation methods such as ATAM and Gartner TIME.
• You have a deep understanding of security, availability, and resilience requirements in critical infrastructure environments.
• You possess exceptional communication skills to navigate conversations with C-suite stakeholders and technical engineering teams.
• You're a collaborative leader capable of balancing innovation with long-term sustainability and operational reliability.
• You are fluent in English
