IT-Planet is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design and evolve scalable data architectures within a complex enterprise environment in Brussels/Gent. You will partner with stakeholders, product managers and data engineers to translate business needs into pragmatic architecture solutions.

You will define data standards, models and target architectures while ensuring alignment between governance, business value and technology.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Data Architecture within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms, particularly Azure and Databricks.
• Expert knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
• Hands-on understanding of Python, Spark, SQL, Delta Lake and ETL/ELT.
• Experience with APIs, data integration and scalable data consumption solutions.

Description:

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to help design and evolve modern, scalable data architectures within a complex enterprise environment.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, data engineers and architects to translate business needs into pragmatic architecture solutions. You will play a key role in defining data standards, models and target architectures while ensuring alignment between business value, governance and technology.

Responsibilities:

• Design and evolve modern data architectures using technologies such as Azure, Databricks, Data Lakehouse, SQL and APIs.
• Define conceptual, logical and physical data models across enterprise and business domains.
• Design scalable data products, canonical data models, data flows, data lineage and reusable integration patterns.
• Define architecture standards, target architectures and technology roadmaps.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and pragmatic data architecture solutions.
• Work closely with data engineering teams around Python, Spark, SQL, Delta Lake and ETL/ELT.
• Design APIs and low-latency data access patterns for analytics and operational data consumption.
• Ensure alignment between data architecture, governance, metadata, security and information ownership.
• Challenge requirements and existing solutions when necessary and propose suitable architectural alternatives.
• Facilitate architecture workshops and drive alignment between business and technical stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor teams to improve architectural maturity and consistency.
• Leverage AI tools and AI-assisted development to improve productivity and delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Data Architecture within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms, particularly Azure and Databricks.
• Expert knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
• Hands-on understanding of Python, Spark, SQL, Delta Lake and ETL/ELT.
• Experience with APIs, data integration and scalable data consumption solutions.
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, security and access management.
• Experience with logistics, warehousing, inventory, transport, parts, planning or supply-chain processes is a strong plus.
• Experience defining architecture standards, target architectures and technology roadmaps.
• Knowledge and practical experience with AI tools and AI-assisted development.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across business, product, engineering and architecture teams.
• Ability to challenge requirements and translate business needs into pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills in complex, cross-functional environments.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and workshop leadership skills.
• Delivery-oriented mindset with the ability to balance governance, standardisation and business value.
• Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
