Job summary

Asenium Consulting is seeking a Senior Data Science & AI Expert to lead advanced analytics and AI initiatives while defining enterprise-wide governance in a regulated environment.

You will oversee use cases from scoping to production, mentor teams, and ensure alignment with value, risk and regulatory standards, including the EU AI Act.

Qualifications

• University degree in a quantitative or technical field.
• At least 7 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or AI.
• End-to-end delivery experience from scoping to deployment and monitoring.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Machine Learning and generative AI.
• Solid understanding of solution industrialisation and MLOps.
• Experience as a senior technical reference, coaching team members.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Data Science & AI Expert to lead advanced analytics and artificial intelligence initiatives while helping define and implement an enterprise-wide AI governance framework in a regulated environment.

The role combines hands-on technical delivery, business-facing advisory and team coaching. You will lead use cases from business scoping and value assessment through production deployment and monitoring, while helping ensure that AI initiatives are assessed, approved and managed consistently in terms of value, investment, risk and regulatory compliance.

Assignment: October 2026 – 31 March 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Data Science and AI use cases end to end, from business scoping and value assessment through development, deployment, adoption and performance monitoring.
• Challenge business needs, assess technical feasibility and expected value, and define success criteria.
• Provide clear recommendations to support use-case prioritisation and investment decisions.
• Develop advanced analytics, Machine Learning and generative AI solutions, or supervise their delivery by team members and partners.
• Coordinate business, Data and IT stakeholders, managing risks, dependencies and decisions throughout delivery.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, review deliverables and coach team members to strengthen their Data Science and AI capabilities.
• Define and promote robust technical practices.
• Advise business teams and management on AI opportunities, limitations and implementation choices.
• Lead the definition and implementation of an enterprise-wide AI governance framework aligned with applicable organisational standards, responsible AI principles and the EU AI Act.
• Establish practical processes to identify and assess AI initiatives, validate implementations and support investment decisions.
• Track expected and realised value and establish oversight processes supporting regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Must-have requirements:

• University degree in a quantitative or technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or AI.
• Proven end-to-end delivery experience, from business scoping through production deployment and monitoring.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Machine Learning and generative AI.
• Solid understanding of solution industrialisation and MLOps.
• Experience acting as a senior technical reference, including guiding colleagues, reviewing their work and coaching less experienced team members.
• Ability to challenge business needs and assess the value and feasibility of proposed solutions.
• Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear recommendations for business stakeholders and management.
• Good understanding of enterprise-wide AI governance and the ability to help establish processes for identifying, assessing, approving and overseeing AI initiatives.
• Understanding of how AI governance addresses investment, value creation, risk and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders and work effectively in a regulated environment.
• Fluent English and fluency in either French or Dutch.
