Pauwels Consulting in Brussels is seeking a senior Data Governance specialist to establish and evolve data governance and quality frameworks within a leading transportation and logistics organization. You will design target operating models, define roles and glossaries, collaborate with business and IT to align governance with strategy, and act as a change agent by coaching Data Owners and Data Stewards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Data Governance and Data Quality within large-scale organizations.
• Expertise in at least four domains: Data Protection, Regulatory Compliance, Data Lineage, Metadata Management or Business Glossaries.
• Proven track record coordinating governance projects as PM/Program Manager.
• Master’s degree or equivalent through relevant experience.
• Fluent in Dutch or French (C1) with B2 in the other language and English (B2).

Our client, a major organization in the transportation and logistics sector, is looking for a specialist to join their Data & Analytics division. The role involves establishing and evolving data governance and quality frameworks to ensure compliance and foster data literacy across the organization.

• Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework covering target operating models, roles, and business glossaries.
• Collaborate with business and IT teams to align governance processes with strategic objectives and business needs.
• Act as a change agent by providing support, training, and coaching to embed data roles such as Data Owners and Data Stewards.
• Develop governance processes, monitor compliance, and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee the execution of governance tasks, including data classification and the definition of quality rules.
• Track and report on governance indicators, data quality, and privacy compliance to propose improvements.
• Lead and participate in internal and external data governance communities.

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality within large-scale organizations of over 1,000 employees.
• You possess deep expertise in at least four domains among Data Protection, Regulatory Compliance, Data Lineage, Metadata Management, and Business Glossaries.
• You have a proven track record in coordinating data governance projects as a Project Manager or Program Manager.
• You're proficient in Python or SQL for analytical activities.
• You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent through relevant professional experience.
• You possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to simplify complex regulatory topics for non-technical audiences.
• You are fluent in Dutch or French (C1 level) with B2 level proficiency in the other language and English (B2 level).

Nice to Haves

• Experience with industry-leading Data Management and Data Governance tools.
• Possession of DMBOK, CIGO, or AAIM certifications.

• Start date: 01/01/2027.
• Duration: Until 31/12/2028.
• Work regime: Full-time.
• Location: Brussels.
• Working model: Hybrid, with the flexibility to be onsite up to 5 days per week if required.
• Contract: Open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
