What you will do

A Belgian public-sector organisation has started building an organisation-wide data excellence capability. The aim is to manage data in a structured, transparent and sustainable way, so that information can be used effectively for operational support, policy-making, reporting, innovation and artificial intelligence. The work includes implementing a data governance framework, defining data domains, introducing roles such as Data Owner and Data Steward, building metadata and data management processes, and strengthening data and AI literacy across the organisation.

As Data Governance Consultant, you will support the development, implementation and operationalisation of the data governance and data excellence framework. You will ensure clear structures, roles, processes and agreements are in place, and you will also help develop data training programmes.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supporting the implementation of the data governance framework
• Defining and documenting roles, responsibilities and processes
• Helping to establish data domains and ownership structures
• Contributing to metadata and data management processes
• Supporting the development of data literacy and training initiatives
• Working with a multidisciplinary team of internal and external colleagues

What we are looking for

• Confirmed experience as a Data Governance Manager
• Confirmed knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK
• Confirmed experience with data governance

The setting

This assignment runs from mid-October until the end of December 2026. You will work full-time in a hybrid setting, with a minimum of two days per week on site in Brussels. Remote work is allowed from your home address or employer address in Belgium.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with a mix of internal and external colleagues.
