Axis Group is seeking a Senior Engineering Claims Manager in Antwerp, Belgium. In this role, you’ll manage technical claims from initial reporting to case closure, working closely with experts and attorneys to analyze data and prepare reports.

Will you be our new Senior Engineering Claims Manager? In this challenging role, you’ll be responsible for independently managing technical claims cases, from initial reporting through to case closure.

You’ll work closely with experts and attorneys, analyze data, and prepare strategic reports. Are you analytical, customer-focused, and do you have experience in engineering projects?

Responsibilities

• Independently manage your own claims files in the area of technical insurance (such as Construction Site Risks, Ten-Year Liability, Machinery Breakdown) and other insurance categories (Specialty Lines, Property), from the initial report through to compensation and case closure, including the initiation of recovery proceedings if necessary.
• Analyze the data and facts following the claim report and correctly enter new claims files into an internal system based on information received from the insured and/or the broker.
• Appoint an adjuster and an attorney if necessary and coordinate their work, in consultation with the broker.
• Report internal updates on major claims files to the underwriting department, management, headquarters, and the in-house risk management team.
• Proactively follow up on open claims files and continuously update the reserves based on developments within each file.
• After settling the claim, assess the claim file for its merits regarding recovery and initiate any recovery actions against liable parties, with proactive follow-up.
• Coordinate and monitor claims files related to local policies within international insurance programs. Maintain contact with colleagues worldwide to identify any issues and strive to optimize claims management.
• Compile claims statistics and discuss them to support the underwriting department in the context of policy renewals.
• Regularly participate in meetings with fellow claims managers to exchange knowledge and experiences.
• Provide feedback to relevant colleagues on the interpretation of policy terms following a claim and make proposals for updating the policy so that it better aligns with the insured’s activities.

Qualifications

• Holds a master’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering.
• Has a solid understanding of construction techniques.
• Has at least 5 years of experience in handling claims in engineering projects.
• Is fluent in Dutch, English, and French.
• Is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Is sharp‑minded and has an analytical mindset.
• Possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and has a customer‑focused approach.
• Is eager to learn and open to new developments.
• Is motivated and able to perform under pressure.
• Has extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and IT systems in general.
