Job summary

Octave BricsCAD is seeking an experienced Software Architect to shape the future of BricsCAD architecture. You will lead cross‑team collaboration across global R&D, drive architectural strategy, and coordinate with senior leads to close gaps and reduce technical debt.

You will work in a hybrid setup based in Ghent, Belgium, reporting to the Head of BricsCAD R&D, and influence roadmap planning and product discovery with strong communication skills and deep C++ expertise.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional C++ development (≥C++11).
• 2+ years in senior engineering or software architecture roles with cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to design and develop complex software and read legacy code.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; Dutch is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural design of new product areas or major enhancements.
• Improve BricsCAD codebase by identifying hotspots and reducing technical debt.
• Coordinate with R&D management and engineers to ensure adherence to the product architecture.
• Lead code-architectural refactoring across teams when needed.
• Own code-architectural documentation and update it as necessary.
• Support half-yearly roadmap planning with architectural impact assessments.
• Collaborate with Product Management on discovery and feasibility of new offerings.
• Work in a collaborative culture, unblock progress and seek consensus.
