Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Scientist in AI and Biostatistics to advance AI-enabled statisti­cal solutions for pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. You will work at the intersection of biostatistics, AI, and scientific software, ensuring statistical validity, interpretability and regulatory compliance.

Locations include Beerse (Belgium) and other global sites. You will develop scalable AI applications, integrate with AI/ML tools, and mentor statisticians and scientists in

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, ML, Data Science, CS, AI or related field, or Master’s with commensurate experience.
• Strong knowledge of statistical modelling, study design, uncertainty quantification and model validation.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly in English and collaborate with diverse scientific/technical teams.
• Experience developing AI/ML solutions including LLMs, RAG and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Make statistical, mechanistic and predictive models accessible to AI workflows through interfaces and shared model services.
• Build Python services and connect approved R and Python tools through APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Be accountable for the statistical integrity of AI-enabled solutions, handling variability and uncertainty.
• Design end-to-end architectures for production scientific AI applications and ensure scalability and governance.
• Develop agentic workflows that retrieve evidence, invoke models and support interpretation.
• Prepare, curate and contextualise scientific data for AI applications with provenance and quality controls.
• Collaborate with modelling and lab automation teams on iterative workflows and governance.
• Design and operate applications with deployment, access controls, logging and validation.
