The Green Recruitment Company seeks a Senior/Lead Biomethane Broker to build and lead a new biomethane desk within its Renewables division. You will originate and close biomethane and certificate transactions, develop a client portfolio across producers, utilities, traders, and buyers, and shape the market strategy across Europe.

You will report to senior leadership and help establish a core revenue stream, with relocation support and an entrepreneurial working environment.

Qualifications

• 2-6 years’ experience in biomethane, renewable gas, or environmental commodities markets.
• Strong understanding of biomethane certification schemes (RGGOs, GoOs).
• Proven commercial track record in broking, trading, or B2B energy sales.
• Existing network within European biomethane or renewable energy markets (preferred).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a business line from scratch.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.

An established broker in the European Environmental Markets, specialising in Renewable Energy products, Energy Efficiency solutions, Renewable Certificates and Guarantees of Origin. The firm operates at the centre of Europe’s energy transition, connecting buyers and sellers and structuring transactions across niche, fast-growing markets.

The company has a strong presence in environmental commodities and is expanding its footprint in biomethane and renewable gas markets.

The Opportunity

The firm is launching a dedicated Biomethane desk within its Renewables division and is seeking a Senior / Lead Biomethane Broker to build and lead this initiative.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a high-growth vertical, developing a biomethane wholesale trading portfolio, expanding the client base, and laying the foundation for a future team.

You will report into senior leadership and play a key role in shaping the firm’s presence in the biomethane and green gas markets (including RGGOs and certification products).

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Trading

• Originate, structure and close biomethane and green gas certificate transactions (e.g., RGGOs)
• Build and manage a portfolio of clients across producers, utilities, traders, and industrial buyers
• Develop trading strategies within the biomethane wholesale market
• Execute broking activities across the full deal lifecycle (pricing, negotiation, closing)

Market Development

• Establish and grow the biomethane desk into a core revenue stream
• Identify new market opportunities across Europe within biomethane and renewable gas
• Expand the network across producers, developers, engineers, and energy companies
• Monitor pricing and liquidity trends in biomethane certification markets

Leadership & Desk Build-Out

• Act as the founding member of the biomethane desk
• Support hiring and mentoring as the desk grows
• Define processes, commercial strategy, and market coverage
• Monitor European regulatory developments in biomethane, hydrogen, and certification frameworks
• Provide market insights to clients and internal stakeholders
• Support complex deal structuring and long-term agreements

Candidate Profile

• 2-6 years’ experience in biomethane, renewable gas, or environmental commodities markets
• Strong understanding of biomethane certification schemes (e.g., RGGOs, GoOs)
• Proven commercial track record in broking, trading, or B2B energy sales
• Existing network within European biomethane or renewable energy markets (preferred)
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build a business line from scratch
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
• Fluent in English (additional European languages are a plus)
