Job summary

Emerson in Diegem, Belgium seeks a Senior Automation Engineer specialized in Life Sciences. You will develop, configure and implement automation and process control solutions for pharmaceutical and biotech customers.

The role spans design, testing, commissioning and handover with opportunities to work on varied projects from weeks to over a year. You will need strong DCS/PLC experience, cGMP knowledge and the ability to work independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet

Qualifications

Five+ years of relevant engineering experience in Life Sciences or regulated industries.
Knowledge of cGMP, GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11 is preferred.
Experience in detailed engineering, configuration, integration and testing of automation systems.
Experience preparing technical documentation and validation procedures.
Ability to work independently on complex technical assignments and deliverables.
Strong communication skills with customers and cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed engineering, system configuration, integration and testing of automation and process control systems.
Translate customer requirements into functional automation solutions.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation (FS, DS, records, test docs).
Plan and execute work packages, monitor progress and risks.
Support FAT/SAT, commissioning and qualification at Emerson and customer sites.
Troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
Ensure compliance with cGMP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11 and data integrity standards.
Collaborate with Lead Engineers, Project Managers and customers to coordinate activities.
Share knowledge and contribute to engineering improvements and best practices.
