Job summary

Emerson in Diegem, Belgium, seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to develop, configure and implement automation solutions for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. You’ll work across project lifecycles, from design to commissioning, often collaborating with a team of specialists.

You will deliver reliable, compliant solutions for regulated production environments, with responsibilities spanning design, testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of engineering experience, preferably in Life Sciences or regulated industries.
• Experience in detailed engineering, configuration, integration and testing of automation systems.
• Practical knowledge of DCS/PLC systems and their applications in industrial production.
• Understanding of cGMP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11 and related documentation.
• Degree in engineering; equivalent qualifications considered.
• Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed engineering, system configuration, integration and testing of automation and process control systems.
• Translate approved customer requirements into functional automation solutions.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation (FS, DS, configuration records, tests).
• Plan and execute engineering work packages, monitor progress and risks.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification activities at Emerson and customer sites.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Ensure activities and docs meet Emerson standards and Life Sciences requirements (cgMP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11).
• Coordinate with Lead Engineers, Project Managers and customers to resolve challenges.
• Share knowledge and contribute to improvements and best practices.
• Potentially manage a dedicated technical work package within larger projects.
