Job summary

SQLI Belgium seeks a General Accountant to own the full accounting scope in an international, fast-growing environment. You will manage closing processes, VAT compliance, intercompany activities, and financial reporting with cross-functional teams including AP, AR, Treasury, and Controlling.

You bring an autonomous, detail-oriented, solution-driven mindset with 4–8 years of general accounting experience, IFRS knowledge a plus, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Autonomous, detail-oriented and solution-driven professional capable of managing a complete accounting scope in an international environment.
• Proven experience with monthly and annual closings.
• Knowledge of VAT and day-to-day accounting requirements.
• Experience preparing annual accounts and supporting audit processes.
• Intercompany accounting knowledge is a strong asset.
• Strong financial analysis and account reconciliation skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Exact, Dynamics or equivalents).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of IFRS is an asset.
• Previous experience in an international environment is highly appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Perform account reconciliations and ensure data reliability.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure tax compliance.
• Assist in annual accounts and financial statements.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with AP, AR, Treasury, and Controlling teams.
• Support audits and liaise with auditors as a key contact.
• Identify process improvements to enhance finance efficiency.
• Contribute to management and Group financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full general accounting cycle for multiple entities through to closing.
• Participate in and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with ongoing tax obligations.
• Assist in the preparation of annual accounts and financial statements.
• Manage intercompany transactions and ensure accurate reconciliation.
• Collaborate closely with AP, AR, Treasury, and Controlling teams.
• Support internal and external audit processes and serve as one of the key contacts for auditors.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the Finance department.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports for management and the Group.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Ideally 4 to 8 years of experience in general accounting.
• Proven experience with monthly and annual closings.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and day-to-day accounting requirements.
• Experience preparing annual accounts and supporting audit processes.
• Knowledge of intercompany accounting is a strong asset.
• Strong financial analysis and account reconciliation skills.
• Experience working with one or more ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Exact, Dynamics, or equivalent).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of IFRS is considered an asset.
• Previous experience in an international environment is highly appreciated.

Languages

• Fluent in French, Dutchand English (written and spoken).
