Founded in 2019, Novutech is a dynamic digital transformation partner with a team of over 60 consultants across Europe. We specialise in finance-focused digital transformation projects for international scale-ups and mid-sized enterprises. Our expertise lies in leveraging a core technology stack and the experience from hundreds of successful projects. We are committed to designing, delivering, and supporting end-to-end solutions that drive growth and efficiency.
About the Role
Novutech is strengthening its Finance team. We are looking for an ambitious, qualified Senior Finance Accountant to own day-to-day accounting execution across the Group, with NetSuite at the core of our ecosystem. In this role, you will not only ensure accounting rigor and audit-ready compliance; you will act as a driving force for automation, process scalability, and the day-to-day adoption of AI within our finance operations.
Responsibilities
Core Accounting, Close & Internal Controls
- Own core accounting execution in NetSuite across all Group entities, guaranteeing timely, compliant, and audit-ready general ledger records.
- Process supplier bills, payroll-related bills, contractor invoices, Payhawk transactions, and other accounting entries in line with company policies and coding standards.
- Prepare month-end journals, including accruals, amortisation, allocations, payroll entries, fixed asset additions and disposals, and other recurring schedules.
- Maintain complete, audit-proof balance sheet reconciliations for all entities, actively investigating differences and resolving reconciling items on a monthly basis.
- Design and enforce automated booking quality controls covering cost centres, VAT codes, amortisation schedules, and intercompany dimensions to catch anomalies at source.
- Drive a structured, predictable month-end close calendar in line with Group governance, ensuring all tasks, journals, and reconciliations are completed and documented before period lock.
- Uphold strict segregation of duties, internal financial controls, and risk-managed approval workflows across all accounting and banking processes.
AI-Driven Operations, Automation & Scalability
- Champion the daily adoption of AI tools (including Dust custom assistants and workflows) across finance operations: automating transaction categorization, drafting variance commentaries, querying finance policies, and accelerating reconciliation.
- Partner with the Finance Manager to systematically identify manual bottlenecks, designing automated rules, alerts, and workflows across NetSuite and integrated apps.
- Optimize procure-to-pay automation: enforce e-invoicing, digital invoice ingestion via Zone Capture / Payhawk, and automated vendor coding to eliminate repetitive manual entry.
- Build and maintain scalable finance documentation, AI knowledge bases, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that empower the finance function to scale efficiently as company transaction volume grows.
Treasury, Cash Operations & Compliance
- Prepare supplier, contractor, and salary payment batches in Embat, strictly respecting delegation of authority and multi-tier approval policies.
- Supervise bank connectivity and automated cash reconciliations across European entities in NetSuite and Embat, ensuring weekly clearance of in-transit items.
- Develop rolling cash forecasting models based on automated NetSuite invoice schedules, Payhawk trends, and real-time bank position feeds.
- Oversee employee card expense and reimbursement compliance in Payhawk, enforcing receipt submission rules, tax validation, and prompt error resolution.
Revenue, Intercompany & Statutory Compliance
- Perform invoice quality and compliance checks (VAT validation, reverse-charge applicability, entity and contract accuracy) prior to automated billing runs.
- Support outgoing e-invoicing, customer balance verification, monthly AR ageing reviews and the resolution of invoicing queries.
- Manage automated revenue recognition schedules in NetSuite, ensuring strict compliance with accounting standards (including commission accounting and multi-element deliverables).
- Supervise payroll journal entries, pension reconciliations, and compliance filings across European jurisdictions in coordination with payroll partners.
- Work with Customer Success, Project Sponsors, HR, and external providers to ensure finance inputs are complete and delivered on time.
Reporting, Analytics & Governance
- Supervise VAT return filings, European sales lists, and statutory tax compliance with our global accounting firm, maintaining audit-ready documentation and sign-offs.
- Execute monthly intercompany cross-charges, management recharges, and automated matching, maintaining strict adherence to Transfer Pricing policies.
- Support group consolidation, statutory-versus-internal book reconciliations, and information requests from external accountants and auditors.
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages, automating variance analysis (P&L and Balance Sheet MoM / QoQ) to highlight operational drivers and budget deviations.
- Maintain clear documentation, checklists, and audit trails for recurring processes and controls.
Process improvement & collaboration
- Help implement the future finance operating model, moving core accounting activities in-house and reducing reliance on transactional outsourcing.
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve workflows in NetSuite and connected finance tools, while maintaining strong control standards.
- Contribute to finance policies, the close calendar, chart of accounts and cost centre governance, and standard operating procedures.
- Build effective working relationships with the Finance Manager, Finance Leader, Christiana, external accounting partners, and colleagues across the business.
Benefits and Working Environment
- Be part of a high-growth, innovative digital transformation leader with a startup mindset, a friendly culture, and a flexible hybrid work setup.
- Lead by example in an AI-forward company: Novutech actively embraces AI tools (such as Dust) and modern cloud technologies across all functions, giving you the platform to innovate and automate your own work.
- Work on a cutting-edge finance stack centred on NetSuite, Embat, Payhawk, Upflow, and Eagl, building scalable foundations for international expansion.
- Enjoy significant ownership and visibility, directly shaping the evolution of our Group finance operating model, automation roadmap, and compliance architecture.
- Collaborate with an inspiring, multicultural European team committed to continuous learning, professional excellence, and balanced well-being.
Job requirements
- Fully qualified accountant with an ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification. Candidates qualified through substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity, international, scale-up, or professional services environment.
- Hands‑on experience with NetSuite is desired, including supplier bills, journals, reconciliations, fixed assets, period close, and reporting. Experience helping improve NetSuite processes is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of core accounting, month‑end close, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, amortisation, fixed assets, VAT, payroll accounting, and intercompany accounting.
- Experience preparing payment batches and working with banking or payment platforms. Embat, Payhawk, Upflow, or similar tools are an advantage.
- Comfortable working with external accounting firms, auditors, payroll providers, and tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines, investigate discrepancies, and maintain a high standard of documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, hands‑on approach. You are comfortable working independently while escalating issues clearly and early.
- Systems‑oriented, scalability mindset: you naturally look for ways to eliminate manual bottlenecks, automate repetitive tasks, and design repeatable processes that scale without linear headcount growth.
- Demonstrated passion for AI and automation: hands‑on experience using AI tools (such as Dust, ChatGPT, or Claude) to accelerate analysis, document workflows, or streamline daily accounting tasks, alongside an appetite to learn new automation platforms.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting compliance, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT / sales tax mechanics (including cross‑border European reverse charge), and audit readiness.
- Fluent in English is a requirement.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe for team events or business needs.
