Job summary

Teamleader is seeking an Accountant in Ghent, Belgium, offering a hybrid work model. You will manage core accounting activities, close cycles, and ensure VAT compliance in a fast-growing SaaS environment.

You report to the Accountant Lead and collaborate with Controllers and Payroll. You’ll drive improvements, automate processes, and own the books with accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Taxation.
• Solid understanding of Belgian accounting and VAT regulations.
• Fluent Dutch and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Maintain books: supplier invoices, bank transactions, creditor payments, expense notes, intercompany bookings, GL entries, VAT declarations with reconciled accounts.
• Close monthly accounts with analytical P&L and consolidated balance sheet; deliver monthly reporting deck for Management and Board.
• Prepare for year-end and audit with external accountants, auditors and tax advisors to stay compliant.
• Identify improvements and drive automation and efficiency within the finance processes.

As An Accountant At Teamleader You

• Keep the books moving. Purchase invoices, bank transactions, creditor payments, expense notes, intercompany bookings, general ledger entries and VAT declarations, with bank statements and balance sheet accounts reconciled so our records stay accurate.
• Close the month, together. With the Accounting team and the Controllers, you deliver a full analytical P&L, a consolidated balance sheet and the monthly reporting deck for Management and the Board. The team often sits together during the close, because Controlling can't move forward until Accounting does.
• Prepare for year-end and audit. You work with our external accountants, auditors and tax advisors to keep us compliant with local accounting and tax standards.
• Make it better. In a fast-growing company there's always something to improve. You spot it, you speak up, and you help make it happen.

Job Requirements

You’d be a great fit for this role if you have:

• Have a master’s or bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Taxation, or have relevant experience in an accountancy firm or a similar role
• Have a solid understanding of accounting principles and Belgian accounting and VAT regulations
• Know your way around Excel and financial software , and are curious about automation and AI
• Speak fluent Dutch and English , written and spoken (our close runs in Dutch)
• Have an eye for detail and accuracy, and stay reliable under tight deadlines
• Take initiative and ownership , and speak up early when something is at risk
• Enjoy working closely with colleagues, in person and on Slack
• Are ambitious to keep growing in accounting and handle change and variety with ease
