Job summary

imec is hosting a Master or PhD internship focusing on the interplay between antiferromagnetic exchange coupling and the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI) in synthetic antiferromagnets for domain-wall applications. The project centers on electrical characterization of DW-related phenomena using Hall-bar devices and SAF material stacks.

The internship will explore scaling effects in nanoscale devices, addressing fabrication-induced edge roughness and its impact on exchange coupling and DW

Qualifications

  • Master or PhD internship in Materials Engineering or Physics.
  • Strong interest in spintronics and nanoscale magnetic devices.
  • Willingness to work with advanced nanofabrication and electrical measurement techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize DMI in SAFs through electrical measurements on Hall-bar devices.
  • Correlate DMI with exchange coupling and magnetic properties of SAFs.
  • Extend study to nanoscale Hall-bar devices to assess scaling effects.
  • Assist in data analysis and interpretation to understand SAF-based DW devices.
