Cohabs Group is seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer in Brussels to strengthen our risk management and ensure regulatory alignment as we scale internationally.

You will lead risk assessments, develop compliance frameworks, implement internal controls, and train teams to understand regulatory requirements. The role requires fluent French and English and a strategic, collaborative mindset.

Starting ASAP with a salary range of 55,000€ to 61,000€ gross per year on a full-time permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a relevant field; Master’s or relevant certification is a plus
• 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, or Big Four environment
• Solid knowledge of GDPR and AML frameworks
• Experience designing or maintaining internal control systems and using audit tools
• Fluent in French and English; strong communication skills

We are looking for a Risk & Compliance Officer to help us strengthen our risk management and compliance framework as we continue to scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Risk Assessment: work with all stakeholders to identify and assess the main risks, define acceptable risk levels and mitigation measures, and ensure the assessment is reviewed and updated annually.
• Compliance Frameworks: develop and implement compliance strategies aligned with legal, regulatory and industry standards, while equipping teams with practical tools to simplify compliance.
• Risk Management: create, maintain and continuously improve risk management policies and frameworks.
• Internal Controls: design and maintain strong internal control systems to prevent fraud and safeguard assets. Conduct audits and implement improvements where needed.
• Training & Awareness: lead training programs to raise risk and compliance awareness across the company, ensuring employees understand regulatory requirements and risk mitigation practices. Ensure strong communication across the organisation and keep senior management informed of regulatory changes.
• Incident Management: track incidents that deviate from internal policies, regulatory frameworks or guidelines, and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Reporting & Documentation: maintain accurate records, prepare reports for senior management, and provide recommendations on risk-related decisions to support strategic initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification such as CIPP/E or CIA is a plus.
• You have 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, internal audit, or a Big Four environment.
• You have solid knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory standards, including GDPR and AML.
• You have experience designing or maintaining internal control systems and are comfortable with risk assessment methodologies and audit tools.
• You are fluent in French and English.
• You are a problem solver: you proactively identify and address risks, offering practical solutions and tools to teams.
• You are a strong communicator: you can simplify complex compliance topics for all levels of the organisation, especially senior management.
• You are a collaborative leader: you foster a culture of risk awareness across the company and ensure senior leadership remains fully engaged.
• You are a strategic thinker: you can drive risk management strategy in support of the company’s growth and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
