Job summary

ThoughtLabs Belgium is seeking an experienced System Engineer specializing in Splunk and Linux operations to join our European framework project team on a permanent remote basis in Brussels (Schaarbeek), Belgium. You will manage enterprise Linux environments, production Splunk clusters, and CI/CD pipelines while leveraging RHEL, Ansible, and Git workflows to ensure high observability and reliability.

This role requires EU citizenship eligibility and fluency in Dutch or French alongside English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4+ years of progressive professional experience in enterprise Linux IT operations (containerized, virtualized, and physical).
• Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on professional experience in production-grade Splunk administration and monitoring.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ansible configuration management, and Git workflows.
• Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD pipeline automation and containerization technologies (Podman/OCI).
• Deep experience in system troubleshooting, log analysis, performance tuning, and security hardening.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, harden, and maintain enterprise Linux operating systems across all architectures.
• Manage production Splunk administration, indexer clusters, data ingestion pipelines, and search optimization.
• Author and maintain automation playbooks using Ansible.
• Manage Git workflows and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Build and manage containerized workloads with Podman and OCI standards.
• Monitor performance, investigate anomalies, and perform proactive maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and security squads across Europe.
• Document system topologies, deployment scripts, and runbooks.
