Job summary

Harmoney is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and evolve cloud-native services powering our platform. You’ll work with Product and fellow engineers, owning major components from design through deployment.

You’ll help create secure APIs, optimize databases, review code, and drive performance and reliability. Fluent English and 3+ years of Java experience are essential, with Dutch and Quarkus knowledge as nice-to-haves.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building enterprise applications in Java.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Know how to design and build secure REST APIs.
• Enjoy real ownership and autonomy from day one.
• Enjoy solving complex technical challenges and thinking about scalability.
• Collaborative engineer who shares knowledge through code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java.
• Develop secure REST APIs and cloud-native features.
• Translate product requirements into clean, maintainable software.
• Design and optimise database models and SQL queries.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to deliver high-quality features.
• Leverage AI tools to improve development speed, quality, and efficiency.
• Continuously improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our platform.
