QHSE Engineer / Prevention Officer | Semiconductor | Belgium & Netherlands
I'm partnering with an international semiconductor manufacturer with operations in Belgium and the Netherlands, who are looking to appoint a QHSE Engineer / Prevention Officer to ensure health and safety standards are met in line with Belgian and Dutch law.
Within the European Health and Safety Team, you will manage QHSE activities across your region, working closely with internal departments, customers and government regulators.
The company is well established and puts safety first. It would suit an engineer with strong knowledge of Belgian and Dutch regulations who wants to drive continuous improvement and act as the regional subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and work instructions in compliance with Belgian and Dutch regulations
- Carry out workplace inspections and risk assessments of facilities, machinery and equipment, recommending corrective actions and improvements
- Lead investigations of accidents, quality incidents and near misses, developing corrective and preventive actions and notifying authorities where legally required
- Lead Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) investigations and 8D reporting
- Act as the liaison with government regulatory bodies and external prevention providers
- Design and deliver QHSE training covering compliance, hazardous materials, emergency response and safe working practices
- Monitor and report on safety performance indicators, presenting findings and improvement opportunities to management
- Support the safety of field personnel working at customer sites and manage safety and quality escalations
- Contribute to emergency response planning and promote a culture of safety, excellence and continuous improvement
Required Experience
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a Health and Safety Engineer or in a similar role within an engineering or technical environment.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in Belgium and the Netherlands.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including regular engagement with senior management, customers and regulators.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards and develop effective preventive measures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and at multiple levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and maintain a high standard of documentation.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, CQA or equivalent qualification, or a degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certified Prevention Advisor, CSP or ASP (desirable).
- Fluent English and Dutch (essential); French (a plus).
