Artemys, a Belgian recruitment specialist, is helping HybriX Energy find a Project Engineer – BESS. The role focuses on technical support, documentation, and coordination across civil, electrical, and control interfaces for large-scale battery storage projects.

We seek a candidate with a technical degree and experience in design/engineering, site follow-up, or contract management. Fluency in Dutch or French and English is important. Hybrid work environment with growth potential.

Responsabilités

• Providing technical support for Project Managers across all project phases from development to delivery.
• Reviewing engineering deliverables from EPC partners and subcontractors.
• Developing and monitoring scopes of work, specs, and tender docs.
• Supporting site supervision activities including FAT and SAT tests.
• Coordinating interfaces between civil, electrical, battery systems, and SCADA.
• Preparing connection documents with Elia and network operators.
• Monitoring compliance with IEC, EN, Synergrid, grid codes, and internal standards.
• Contributing to risk analyses and HAZOP/HAZID studies.
• Preparing as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and handover files.
• Assisting commissioning and energising activities with contractors and grid operators.
• Handling Technical Queries and NCRs with the PM, and evaluating deviations.
• Continuing professional development and collaboration with Asset & Control Room Engineer for smooth handover.

On behalf of our client HybriX Energy – a local and independent developer of grid-scale and industrial battery energy storage projects, fully committed to the energy transition – we are looking for a Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) who will be responsible for providing technical support to the Project Managers during the preparation, engineering, and execution of large-scale battery storage projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client HybriX Energy is a local and independent developer of grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, actively engaged in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale BESS installations, and strongly committed to supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future.

To continue its ambitious expansion, HybriX Energy is looking for a highly motivated Project Engineer - BESS to join its enthusiastic and dynamic team, passionate about energy storage and dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment.

As a Project Engineer – BESS, you will provide technical support to the Project Managers during the preparation, engineering, and execution of large-scale battery storage projects. In this role, you will focus on developing technical documentation, reviewing engineering deliverables from contractors and suppliers, managing technical queries, and supporting site supervision activities, ensuring the correct technical execution of projects within the agreed scope, quality standards, and deadlines.

To ensure your long-term success in this role, you will be supported every step of the way – through continuous training, knowledge sharing, coaching, and guidance from experienced colleagues, in each of the respective areas. This will enable you to gradually build your skills and confidence until you take ownership of your responsibilities and perform the role autonomously and effectively.

Your main responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

• Providing technical support for the technical and contractual Project Managers throughout all project phases, from development to delivery
• Reviewing engineering deliverables (single line diagrams, layouts, civil plans, protection & control, grounding plans, cable routes, etc.) from EPC partners and subcontractors
• Developing and monitoring technical scopes of work, specifications, and tender documentation for subcontractors and suppliers
• Supporting site supervision activities, including participation in site visits, inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site acceptance tests (SAT)
• Participating in coordination of interfaces between civil works, electrical works, battery systems, and SCADA/network, in collaboration with the project team
• Preparing and following up on connection documents with Elia and the distribution network operators, including monitoring technical conditions and compliance tests
• Monitoring compliance with applicable technical standards (IEC, EN, Synergrid), grid codes, and internal quality standards
• Contributing to risk analyses, HAZOP/HAZID studies, and the development of risk-mitigating measures
• Preparing and following up on as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and the technical files for handover to operations
• Contributing to the preparation of commissioning and energising activities, in close collaboration with contractors and grid operators
• Following up and responding to Technical Queries (TQs) and Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs), in coordination with the technical Project Manager
• Supporting the evaluation of variations, deviations, and additional works from a technical perspective
• Contributing to lessons learned initiatives and the continuous improvement of technical standards and internal work processes
• Continuous upskilling and professional development in order to meet evolving business needs and client requirements
• Working back-to-back with the Asset & Control Room Engineer to ensure a smooth and efficient technical handover to operations

YOUR PROFILE

The successful candidate will be required to have:

• A relevant technical degree in Industrial Engineering
• Relevant first experience in one of these fields: designing/engineering; site follow-up; and/or contract and stakeholder management
• Strong technical communication skills and the confidence to take ownership of technical topics
• Proven track record of participating in large projects (onshore, wind, or renewable power generation projects) is highly desirable
• An analytical mindset with an eye for detail
• A solution-oriented attitude combined with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of project management software and tools
• Strong collaborative communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills allowing you to engage effectively with suppliers, team members, and stakeholders
• Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and related technologies is a plus but not a must; eagerness and the ability to learn quickly are even more important
• A scale-up mindset, with eagerness to dive into both new and familiar challenges
• Fluency in Dutch or French, as well as English
• A genuine willingness to continuously learn and grow professionally
