Vrije Universiteit Brussel invites a part-time professor (0.1 FTE) to lead humanitarian engineering research and supervise graduate students. The role focuses on sustainable, inclusive urban solutions, with collaboration across engineering and social sciences, and engagement with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering relevant for humanitarian engineering.
• At least 10 years international and local experience.
• >=5 years in social-science research with quantitative & qualitative methods.
• >=5 years in equity and inclusion related work.
• Strong dissemination and collaboration track record.
• Proven ability to secure external research funding.

Responsabilités

• Lead supervised master’s and PhD teaching in humanitarian engineering.
• Develop research program on urban mobility and inclusive engineering.
• Engage with stakeholders and co-researchers from vulnerable groups.
• Disseminate results through international channels and events.
• Strengthen cross-disciplinary ties within VUB and external partners.
