Job summary

JERA Nex bp is seeking an experienced HSSE Advisor to support four offshore wind farms in Belgium. You will provide visible field support, expert HSSE guidance, and independent challenge to ensure safe and compliant operations across O&M activities.

You will lead HSSE improvement plans, verify critical controls, and mentor leaders in safety culture while coordinating with OEMs, contractors, and service providers to drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant HSSE, engineering or science discipline, plus recognised occupational health and safety professional membership or equivalent competence.
• At least five years’ experience delivering HSSE in offshore wind, offshore energy, marine operations or another high-hazard environment.
• Strong working knowledge of offshore wind O&M activities including contractor-led maintenance, marine logistics, offshore access and risk management.
• Experience in contractor HSSE management, field assurance, inspections, audits and verification of critical controls.
• Working knowledge of Control of Work, permit to work, risk assessment, method statements, lifting operations, electrical safety and working at height controls.
• Experience supporting incident investigations and delivering corrective actions through to closure.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management system principles and Belgian regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Act as an HSSE advisor to the O&M leadership team in Ostend, providing field support, independent challenge and expert guidance to ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Lead the development, delivery and follow-up of HSSE improvement plans with operational leaders and contractors.
• Conduct regular field verification and assurance activities to assess compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Verify implementation of critical controls for high-risk activities, including working at height and lifting operations.
• Provide HSSE oversight of OEMs, marine contractors and service providers, including audits and performance improvement actions.
• Coach leaders in safety leadership and risk management to foster a speak-up culture.
• Test safety programmes through site visits and ensure incidents are reported and translated into learning actions.
• Monitor HSSE metrics and support environmental risk management and emergency preparedness.
