HumanInTech is seeking a Java developer to join a Flemish public company focused on sustainable waste, materials and soil management. You will build Java-based applications using Spring Boot and REST APIs, work with SQL databases and TypeScript, and contribute to maintenance tasks.

The role requires at least 3 years' experience in Java, REST APIs, Spring Boot, and Dutch fluency at CEFR level C2. Hybrid work is possible; the assignment runs from early October 2026 to mid-July 2027 with ~1,520

What you will do

You will join the development team at a Flemish public company responsible for sustainable waste, materials and soil management. Your work will contribute to applications that support the circular economy, waste prevention and soil quality management in Flanders.

Your responsibilities include:

• Developing Java-based applications using Spring Boot and REST APIs
• Writing, testing and debugging code, working independently when needed (for example on maintenance tasks)
• Working with SQL databases and TypeScript
• Contributing to the development and maintenance of applications
• Collaborating within an Agile development environment

What we are looking for

Essential requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience developing Java-based applications
• At least 3 years of experience implementing REST APIs
• At least 3 years of experience with Spring Boot
• Education with certification in programming languages such as Java/J2EE, or equivalent through experience
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with TypeScript
• Ability to execute programming tasks fluently: coding, testing and debugging, including working fully independently when needed
• Fluent Dutch at CEFR level C2

The setting

This role runs from early October 2026 to mid-July 2027. The expected workload is around 1,520 hours over this period. Hybrid working is possible. You will work in Dutch.
