Aerospacelab seeks a Satellite Software Architect to define and own the end-to-end software architecture for our satellite platforms, spanning flight software on the on-board computer to unit-level firmware. You will align interfaces, data flows, and reusable blocks across units with platform-wide standards.

You will work with Embedded Software Engineers, EE and FPGA teams to translate system requirements into robust designs, drive trade-off studies, and guide reviews, while feeding lessons from

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong embedded software experience with C and Python.
• Experience designing architectures for complex multi-component embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS (preferably FreeRTOS) and Linux-based embedded environments.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and communicate architectural decisions.
• Cross-functional collaboration with operations, V&V, and other engineering teams.
• Ability to work across hardware/software boundaries.
• Ability to work autonomously and drive designs to completion.
• Fluency in English.

Responsabilités

• Define and own end-to-end satellite software architecture across flight software and unit-level embedded software.
• Establish design standards, interface conventions, and reusable architectural blocks.
• Translate system requirements into software designs and support implementation and reviews.
• Ensure traceability from mission specs to software across units and platforms.
• Drive architectural trade-off studies and design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Support satellite integration, verification, validation, and operations topics.
• Collaborate with operators, AOCS, and V&V to increase satellite automation.
• Own and maintain the satellite flight software roadmap aligned with strategic goals.
• Incorporate operational lessons from in-orbit flights into architecture.
