Job summary

N-SIDE, based in Belgium, is seeking a Junior Software Engineer - Energy to join our Energy department in Louvain-la-Neuve. You will contribute to software solutions for grid operation, focusing on outage planning and energy market tools, with a strong emphasis on backend development and scalable architectures.

You will collaborate with product owners and tech leads, lead some backend work, and participate in containerization, CI/CD, and monitoring to ensure robust, high-performance

Qualifications

• You have a master in Computer Science, Software Development, or Mathematical Engineering; or a bachelor.
• You have solid programming skills. Proficiency in Java and Python is a must.
• You are interested in software design and wish to contribute and evolve in that career path.
• You have some knowledge around mathematical optimisation such as MIP or constraint programming.
• You demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and a continuous learning mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and maintain software solutions for energy domain projects.
• Lead backend developments with a Spring Boot backend, APIs, and databases.
• Contribute to optimization techniques in grid operations.
• Participate in containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Improve monitoring and logging with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
• Ensure high availability, scalability and performance of energy applications.
• Provide code reviews and contribute to technical choices for the product.
