Overview

Toyota Motor Europe offers a 6‑month research internship in battery cell and pack technology within its Powertrain R&D division in Brussels. The role focuses on AI‑driven data analysis and state‑of‑the‑art research on advanced battery technologies to support future electrification. The internship requires EEA/Swiss citizenship and full‑time student status throughout the period.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI techniques to process large amounts of technology and market related data from a wide spectrum of information sources, interpret and process them into educated future technology predictions and ultimately visualize these predictions.
• Conduct state‑of‑the‑art research of latest cutting‑edge battery technologies from research papers, conferences, patent landscaping, etc., and turn them into digestible information to inform AI models.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD student in electromechanical or electrical engineering, or a data scientist with basic engineering skills.
• Open‑minded and keen to work proactively in a multi‑cultural business environment.
• Highly motivated with a passion for electrification.
• Fluent in English: reading, writing & speaking.
• Ability to summarize complex technical information in a simple and visual way.
• Skills in Python, Machine Learning, or Matlab are considered strong assets.

Location and Dates

Belgium — Brussels (Zaventem): Toyota Motor Europe, Technical Centre.

Start: Between 1 April and 30 August 2026
Duration: 6 months
