Toyota Motor Europe’s Powertrain Division is offering an engineering student internship to support battery pack design. You will create CAD models, develop components, validate designs with stakeholders, and assist benchmarking in a multicultural team environment.

The ideal candidate is pursuing mechanical or electrical engineering, is fluent in English, can work independently, and has experience with 3D design software.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English; TME business language.
  • University student with at least 2 years completed in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • EEA or Swiss citizenship required to work in Belgium.
  • Must be a student for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g. CATIA).

Responsabilités

Team/division Description
Your team and your responsibilities

As part of TME R&D organization, the Powertrain Division is responsible for local development of powertrains for vehicles built in one of the TME production plants, and for planning and research of new European technologies. Latest focus points include electrification, big data and connectivity.

Your project
Responsibilities

You will be joining the Powertrain Battery Design Department, responsible for the development of battery pack components. Typically, the battery pack are made of several components (casing, busbars, connectors, etc.) that require several development processes (design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing). Together with 1 experienced team member, you will work on battery pack design process including:

  • Design a battery pack according to vehicle requirement and developing a first model using CAD.
  • Breakdown the assembly in the different components and perform detailed design activity considering part requirements, specifications, assembly and manufacturing constraints.
  • Perform design validations reviews with different stakeholders.
  • Support for battery pack benchmarking.
Your Profile
  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language).
  • University student with at least 2 years of study already completed in the area of Mechanical or Electrical engineering (affinity on the subject is an asset)
  • You have a European EEA citizenship (not requiring a visa to work in Belgium).
  • You must be a student for the entire duration of the internship.
  • Open personality and able to work independently in a multi-cultural business environment.
  • IT skills: 3D DWG software (e.g. Catia or other), Word, Excel, Power-point.

Confidentiality

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.
We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
