KU Leuven invites applications for a doctoral position titled “Interreligious Dialogue in the Classroom: A Qualitative Study.” The project investigates how interreligious dialogical learning is implemented within Flemish philosophy of life education, examining power dynamics, norms, inclusion, and ethical education in school settings.

You will join an interdisciplinary team and contribute to empirical and theoretical work, while preparing a doctoral dissertation and presenting findings at

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest in qualitative empirical research.
• Experience with ethnographic research methods is a significant asset.
• Strong interest in religious education and interreligious dialogue.
• Affinity for critical approaches to religion, power, secularism, and diversity.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and conduct qualitative and ethnographic research on IDL in Flemish education.
• Collect empirical data via observation, interviews and document analysis.
• Analyze how dialogical practices are shaped by power and normativity in educational contexts.
• Contribute to theory by linking findings to religious studies, anthropology and education sciences.
• Publish scholarly articles and defend a doctoral dissertation.
