KU Leuven in Belgium invites applications for a one-year full-time doctoral position, renewable up to four years, starting 1 February 2027. The project investigates interreligious dialogical learning, ethnographic methods, and related educational contexts within Flemish schools.

You will join an interdisciplinary team led by renowned professors, with extensive supervision and a research budget for conferences and training. Admission to the doctoral program is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable interest in qualitative empirical research.
• Experience with ethnographic research methods is a significant asset.
• Strong interest in religious education, religious diversity, and interreligious dialogue.
• Affinity for critical approaches to religion, power, secularism, and diversity.
• Excellent Dutch communication for fieldwork and good English for academic writing.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and conduct qualitative and ethnographic research on interreligious dialogical learning in Flemish life education.
• Collect empirical data using participant observation, interviews, and document analysis.
• Analyze dialogical practices focusing on power, normativity, inclusion/exclusion, and ethical education.
• Contribute to theoretical development by linking findings to religious studies, theology, anthropology, and education.
• Write scholarly articles and work toward a doctoral dissertation; defend it successfully.
• Present findings at national and international conferences and disseminate to professionals.
