Sabena Engineering in Belgium is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function and drive closings, reporting, and compliance across the organization. You will oversee AP, AR, payroll, intercompany activities, and tax matters while implementing process improvements and strengthening internal controls.

The role requires strong knowledge of GAAP, extensive ERP experience (SAP and Microsoft Dynamics), and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced aviation-focused

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in general accounting and full accounting cycles.
• Experience with fast-closing environments is a strong plus.
• ERP experience: SAP and Microsoft Dynamics preferred.

Responsabilités

• Oversee and actively contribute to the preparation of monthly and annual closings.
• Deliver detailed financial reporting by activity across units.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial statements.
• Manage complex accounting entries and intercompany transactions.
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise AP, AR, payroll, stock and WIP, and internal controls.
• Lead tax matters and liaison with auditors and tax authorities.
• Develop and structure the accounting team and optimize processes.

Your Main Responsibilities:

Accounting & Closing

• Oversee and actively contribute to the preparation of monthly, and annual closings
• Prepare and deliver detailed financial reporting by activity, ensuring consistency and alignment across business units
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial statements
• Manage complex accounting entries
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP and regulatory requirements

End-to-End Accounting Supervision

• Supervise all accounting cycles, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Stock and work in progress, Payroll accounting, Intercompany transactions.
• Ensure proper execution of processes and internal controls

Tax & Compliance

• Oversee all tax matters (VAT, corporate tax, and other local taxes)
• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Act as the main point of contact for auditors, external advisors, and tax authorities
• Identify and mitigate tax and compliance risks

Team Management & Organization

• Lead, structure, and develop the accounting team
• Set priorities and ensure delivery in a demanding environment
• Improve processes, tools, and ways of working

Operational Support & Process Improvement

• Remain hands-on on critical operational topics
• Ensure continuity of key processes (including approvals, financial flows, etc.)
• Drive continuous improvement and strengthen accounting processes

Your Profile:

• Strong expertise in general accounting
• Proven experience across all accounting cycles (AP, AR, Payroll, Intercompany)
• Solid knowledge of tax and regulatory requirements
• Experience with fast-closing environments is a strong plus
• Good command of ERP systems, ideally SAP and Microsoft Dynamics
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables, complex financial models) — a core requirement for this role;
• Knowledge in English.
• Highly autonomous and self-driven: able to manage priorities independently, take initiative and deliver results with minimal supervision
• Analytical and curious mind
• Team player, assertive, strong in communication, proactive and stress-resistant
