Job summary

Sabena Engineering SA in Gosselies, Belgium, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager. Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounting cycles including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
• Excellent understanding of local tax regulations and compliance.
• Experience in fast-closing environments is a plus.
• Ability to manage priorities independently, take initiative, and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and contribute to monthly and annual closings.
• Prepare detailed financial reporting ensuring consistency across business units.
• Manage complex accounting entries and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring operational efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes.

Skills

Proven experience across all accounting cycles (AP, AR, Payroll, Intercompany)

Your Main Responsibilities:

Accounting & Closing

• Oversee and actively contribute to the preparation of monthly, and annual closings
• Prepare and deliver detailed financial reporting by activity, ensuring consistency and alignment across business units
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial statements
• Manage complex accounting entries
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP and regulatory requirements

End-to-End Accounting Supervision

• Supervise all accounting cycles, including:
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Stock and work in progress
  • Payroll accounting
  • Intercompany transactions
• Ensure proper execution of processes and internal controls

Tax & Compliance

• Oversee all tax matters (VAT, corporate tax, and other local taxes)
• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Act as the main point of contact for auditors, external advisors, and tax authorities
• Identify and mitigate tax and compliance risks

Team Management & Organization

• Lead, structure, and develop the accounting team
• Set priorities and ensure delivery in a demanding environment
• Improve processes, tools, and ways of working

Operational Support & Process Improvement

• Remain hands‑on on critical operational topics
• Ensure continuity of key processes (including approvals, financial flows, etc.)
• Drive continuous improvement and strengthen accounting processes

Your Profile:

• Proven experience across all accounting cycles (AP, AR, Payroll, Intercompany)
• Solid knowledge of tax and regulatory requirements
• Experience with fast‑closing environments is a strong plus
• Good command of ERP systems , ideally SAP and Microsoft Dynamics
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables, complex financial models) — a core requirement for this role;
• Highly autonomous and self‑driven: able to manage priorities independently, take initiative and deliver results with minimal supervision
• Analytical and curious mind
• Team player, assertive, strong in communication, proactive and stress‑resistant
