The Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie (VIB) and KU Leuven invite applications for a professor/group leader in Cancer Biology focused on cross-talk between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment. The successful candidate will lead a translational program, foster collaboration across VIB, KU Leuven and industry, and establish novel models and omics approaches to study tumor biology.

Qualifications

• Established scientific expert in (Bio-) Medical Sciences or related field
• Proven leadership of a research group with strong publications
• International research experience and outreach mindset
• Proficiency in English; Dutch language training provided
• Eligibility for associate professorship at KU Leuven Oncology

Responsabilités

• Lead a translational cancer biology program addressing cross-talk between tumors and tumor microenvironment
• Build bridges between VIB, KU Leuven and industry; foster interdisciplinary collaborations
• Develop and apply novel omics technologies and models (3D tumoroids, mouse genetics, PDXs)
• Demonstrate clinical relevance using human samples and pursue independent funding
