Elia Group is seeking a Head of Group IT Engineering & Architecture to lead architecture and engineering across the federation. You will define governance, drive cloud-native modernization, and ensure coherence between Central IT and Local IT, enabling reuse and scalable delivery.

You will lead global architecture governance bodies, promote best practices in DevOps, automation, and security by design, and partner with senior stakeholders across Europe to shape the group’s technology roadmap.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (10–15 years) in architecture or technology leadership roles.
• Proven leadership of architecture/engineering activities in federated environments.
• Strong expertise in enterprise architecture (TOGAF or equivalent).
• Solid background in modern engineering practices: microservices, APIs, cloud-native development, DevOps, automation, security by design.
• Experience designing, governing, and evolving distributed IT systems.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Ability translate standards into practical engineering frameworks and reusable assets.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills without direct hierarchical authority.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication at senior level.
• Fluent in English; Dutch/French/German a plus.

• Act as reference authority for architectural decisions at group level.
• Establish governance mechanisms for global coherence with local agility.
• Chair federated architecture governance bodies with local architecture leaders.
• Translate architectural standards into engineering frameworks, guidelines, and reusable assets.
• Promote best practices in software engineering, cloud adoption, DevOps, automation, and security by design.
• Drive reuse and consolidation across Central IT and Local IT.
