Job summary

BMW Group Belux is seeking a GL Accounting Specialist in Aartselaar, Belgium. You will handle month-end close, ledger reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and banking activities while ensuring compliance with BMW policies.

The role requires 3–5 years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's degree, and strong SAP/Excel skills. Fluency in Dutch, French, and English is expected for cross-team collaboration and audits.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions including purchase-to-pay and PO/PR follow-up.
• Manage, review, and reconcile general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank accounts.
• Prepare and review payment files, register bank statements, and backup for AP/AR colleagues.
• Contribute to audits by maintaining documentation and ensuring compliance with BMW policies.
• Support VAT declarations and other tax filings, meeting deadlines and regulations.
• Drive process improvements, maintain work instructions, and participate in system testing.

What awaits you?

• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Belgian GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including the execution of the purchase-to-pay process (invoice processing, payment runs, and PO/PR follow-up).
• Manage, review, and reconcile general ledger accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounts, and other financial records while resolving discrepancies where needed.
• Prepare and review payment files, register bank statements, and act as a backup for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable colleagues.
• Contribute to internal and external audits by maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with BMW policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support tax-related activities, including VAT declarations and other tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable deadlines and regulations.
• Drive process improvements, maintain work instructions, contribute to system testing for new releases, and liaise with external banking partners regarding authorities and signature guidelines.

What should you bring along?

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience in a professional environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience with SAP; knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is considered a strong asset.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical mindset with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch, French, and English, combined with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
