Job summary

BMW Group Belux seeks a proactive Collections & Recovery Officer in Aartselaar, Belgium. You will manage outstanding receivables, balance risk with customer-focused solutions, and ensure compliance with legal and internal requirements.

You will work with customers, dealers, and partners to drive sustainable repayment while protecting BMW's interests. The role requires 3–5 years in collections or credit, a degree in economics or business, and fluency in Dutch, French, and English.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of collection and follow-up of outstanding payments across BMW Financial Services products.
• Identify risks proactively and implement actions to minimize losses.
• Maintain relationships with customers through regular contact and reminders.
• Design and coordinate payment plans, settlements, and extension requests.
• Advise on credit-related decisions, goodwill requests, and debt forgiveness proposals.
• Support insolvency and recovery cases with Legal and external partners.
• Contribute to collections targets while complying with laws and internal policies.

Job Description:

At BMW Financial Services, we are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Collections Specialist who combines strong analytical skills with a solution-oriented mindset. In this role, you will be responsible for managing outstanding receivables, minimizing credit risk, and safeguarding the interests of BMW Financial Services. You will work closely with customers, dealers, internal stakeholders, and external partners to find sustainable solutions while ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.

• Taking ownership of the collection and follow-up of outstanding payments across the products and services of BMW Financial Services.
• Proactively identifying risks and implementing appropriate actions to minimize financial losses and protect the company's interests.
• Building constructive relationships with customers through regular contact, payment reminders, and tailored follow-up of overdue accounts.
• Designing and coordinating payment plans, settlement agreements, and extension requests to support sustainable repayment solutions.
• Providing advice on credit-related decisions, goodwill requests, and debt forgiveness proposals for customers and dealers.
• Supporting insolvency and recovery cases by working closely with Legal and external partners to secure the best possible outcome.
• Contributing to the achievement of collections targets while ensuring full compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.

What should you bring along?

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in collections, credit management, or a similar financial role.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and identify effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, combined with a persuasive and customer-centric approach.
• A proactive, accurate, and results-driven mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of collection procedures, debt recovery processes, and related legal principles.
• Professional proficiency in Dutch, French, and English.
