Projective Talent is seeking a Functional Data Engineer to drive a large-scale data transformation for a leading financial services client. You will bridge business needs with data engineers, shaping data models and scalable data products in a Data Mesh environment.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, translate requirements into clear designs and contribute to data governance and quality. Fluent English plus French/Dutch is valued, with a competitive salary and mobility options.

Qualifications

• Master in IT, Engineering, Data, Business Engineering or related field.
• Experience in Data Analysis, Data Modelling, Data Warehousing or similar domain.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English; French/Dutch also valued.

For one of our leading clients in the financial services sector, we are looking for a Functional Data Engineer who wants to play a key role in a large-scale data transformation journey.

You’ll join a modern data environment that is evolving towards a Data Mesh architecture, helping teams turn complex data into structured, scalable and future-proof data products. In this role, you act as the link between business stakeholders and technical data engineers, ensuring data requirements are translated into clear models and actionable solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

• Analyse business requirements and translate them into clear data solutions.
• Identify, assess and document data sources across multiple domains.
• Design and maintain logical data models and data structures.
• Collaborate closely with Technical Data Engineers throughout implementation.
• Support the development of modern data products within a Data Mesh environment.
• Validate delivered solutions and ensure alignment with business needs.
• Drive discussions around data definitions, ownership and quality.
• Contribute to data governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with a variety of stakeholders to solve complex data challenges.

Your Skills:

We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical capabilities with a genuine interest in data modelling and stakeholder collaboration.

You have/are

• A Master in IT, Engineering, Data, Business Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in Data Analysis, Data Modelling, Data Warehousing or a similar domain.
• Good understanding of relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with data modelling concepts and methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• The confidence to challenge stakeholders and drive discussions forward.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear solutions.
• Fluency in English in addition to French/Dutch

Nice to have

• Experience with Data Vault modelling.
• Knowledge of Data Mesh principles.
• Experience with PowerDesigner or similar data modelling tools.
• Exposure to Data Governance practices.
• Experience working in a large and complex enterprise environment.
