Functional Data Analyst Consultant at Orange Business

Our Digital & Data team at Orange Business is a dynamic community of expert consultants revolutionizing Customer Experience, Data, and AI across various sectors, including retail, finance, manufacturing, life sciences, and public services.

We have a significant international presence, with 20% of our activity extending beyond Belgium, and this number continues to grow. In this role, you will act as a key member of the dynamic Functional Data Architecture Consulting team with 12 enthusiastic consultants. You’ll dive into exciting data and functional analysis missions across diverse and impactful projects.

Acting as a bridge between business and data teams, you will analyze business needs, define and validate data models, and ensure data usage and dashboards are aligned with real business processes and KPIs.

Examples of projects you may work on

• Rebuilding the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Customer Data Platform (CDP) systems in the aviation industry.
• Refactoring the Fund Management application in a financial institution by modernizing data storage for improved efficiency and enhancing data visualization.
• Data Management projects in retail, transport, and financial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Cover data modeling, data process improvement, data analysis, and data management within assigned projects.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional data specifications.
• Define, design, and validate data models in collaboration with technical teams.
• Optimize dashboards, KPIs, and data usage from a business perspective.
• Ensure data consistency across reports, tools, and domains.
• Build documentation and test implementations of the innovative solutions.
• Stakeholder management: meeting and managing customer needs and expectations.
• Act as a trusted consultant, advising clients on data structures, usage, and best practices to meet their business objectives.

What this role is not

• You are not expected to build data pipelines or design technical architectures.
• You are not responsible for complex SQL, ETL development, or coding‑heavy tasks.
• You influence and validate data structures rather than implementing them.

Who you are

Your technical experience

• At least 4-5 years hands‑on experience in Data & Functional analysis in the context of large‑scale IT implementation projects.
• Experience in functional analysis, design and testing, data modeling (classical data modeling as well as star schema modeling), data change management.
• Experience in one or more of the following operational or analytical business areas: marketing automation & optimization, digital and social Marketing, sales force automation, marketing analysis, sales reporting, dashboarding, benchmarking, customer servicing dashboarding, general reporting & analysis, data analytics & visualization, data quality, data analysis and data science, GDPR compliance.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience in tool implementation: CRM tools, BI reporting & analysis tools, portal environments and tools, data governance (metadata, MDM, data quality).
• Proficient reporting and documentation skills.
• Fluency in SQL and other programming languages is highly desirable.
