Ubique Systems is seeking a Functional Analyst to reinforce the Data Team on projects related to financial closing and reporting. The role bridges Business, Finance, Operations, Data teams and IT to translate requirements into robust, auditable solutions.

You will own data quality controls, reconciliation rules and process documentation, while collaborating with Data Engineers and Business stakeholders to ensure scalable, compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy sector and invoicing is a plus.
• Experience with closing in finance or accounting is advantageous.

We are seeking a skilled Functional Analyst to reinforce our Data Team to work on projects related to financial closing & reporting.

The Functional Analyst plays a key role within the project, acting as the bridge between Business, Finance, Operations, Data teams and IT. The mission is to ensure that functional requirements, business rules, data quality controls and operational processes are translated into robust and sustainable solutions that support accurate financial reporting, auditable figures and continuous process improvement.

The role requires a combination of strong analytical capabilities, business process knowledge, data expertise and stakeholder management skills. The Functional Analyst acts as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and contributes directly to the stabilization, optimization and future evolution of the project and related data ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Functional Design & Solution Implementation

• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and implementation designs.
• Configure, adapt and enhance data processing workflows in collaboration with Data Engineers and Architects.
• Participate in the implementation of functional changes within the data ecosystem, including Dataiku workflows, SQL logic, data transformations and data quality controls.
• Analyze and modify SQL queries, data models and reconciliation logic to support evolving business requirements and controls.
• Contribute to Dataiku development activities, including Python and PySpark recipes, data validation checks, control frameworks and performance improvements.
• Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions where appropriate.
• Validate technical implementations against functional specifications and business expectations.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Developers and Business stakeholders to ensure solutions remain scalable, maintainable and auditable.

Business Rule & Process Ownership

• Act as subject matter expert for business rules and calculation logic.
• Document and validate allocation, metering, pricing and reconciliation processes.
• Ensure consistency of business logic across source systems and reporting solutions.
• Challenge existing processes and propose simplifications and improvements.
• Ensure business decisions are translated into clear and auditable specifications.

Data Quality & Controls

• Define, document and maintain data quality controls and reconciliation rules.
• Drive implementation of preventive and detective controls within the data ecosystem.
• Analyze data quality issues and identify root causes together with business and technical teams.
• Define thresholds, monitoring mechanisms and exception management processes.
• Support audit readiness through traceability and documentation of controls.

Testing & Validation

• Coordinate functional testing activities.
• Define test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Support business testing and user acceptance testing.
• Validate results against expected business outcomes.
• Analyze defects and coordinate corrective actions with delivery teams.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Maintain high-quality and up-to-date:
• Functional specifications
• Business rules & calculation logic
• Ensure proper knowledge transfer to Run teams.
• Contribute to building a robust and auditable documentation framework.
• Work closely with stakeholders across Business, Finance and IT.
• Facilitate workshops and discussions to clarify requirements.
• Provide data-backed insights to support business decisions.

Hard Skills

Must Have

• Proven experience in the energy sector. Exposure to Invoicing is a plus.
• Proven experience in the financial sector (e.g., closing).
• Proven experience in Functional Analysis.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proactive (hands-on) approach.
• Able to work in an autonomous way.
• Excellent communication/negotiation skills - able to deal with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, Power BI.
• Experience in Agile methodology.

Good to Have

• Knowledge of technical systems like SAP ISU, Salesforce.
• Familiar with monthly financial closing.
• Knowledge of Agile tools like Azure DevOps.
• Familiar with data platform concepts, preferably in an AWS landscape.
• Knowledge of Great Expectations/Collibra is a plus.
• Hands-on and curious about Data Science.

Education and Professional Background

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar position.
• Experience with Finance, Energy Supply, Utilities or Data Platforms is a strong asset.
• Experience with data quality, controls and reconciliation processes is considered a plus.
