Business Data Analyst Role Overview

As a Business Data Analyst, you act as the interface between business teams and data teams. You contribute to identifying opportunities to create value from data and translate business needs into analyses, KPIs, and visualisations that provide meaningful insights for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand business processes and challenges across Grid, Finance, and Logistics.
• Gather, analyse and challenge user requirements.
• Translate business challenges into relevant data analyses and concrete recommendations.
• Develop and continuously improve business reports and dashboards.
• Design clear, intuitive and user-oriented visualisations by applying data storytelling and information design principles.
• Support users in interpreting results and adopting the proposed solutions.
• Contribute to Data Office initiatives related to Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Products.
• Help promote and strengthen a data-driven culture across the organisation.

Data & Innovation

We are looking for a curious and innovation-oriented profile who actively follows developments in the data and analytics market. The candidate should demonstrate a strong interest in:

• Modern data management approaches such as Data Products and Data Mesh.
• Data Governance and Data Quality practices.
• Generative and analytical AI, and the opportunities these technologies offer to improve productivity, accelerate data analysis, and stimulate creativity in business activities.

Key Requirements

• Significant experience in data analysis and supporting business stakeholders.
• At least one significant experience in the energy sector, enabling a rapid understanding of sector-specific processes and challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into high-value analytical and decision-support solutions.
• Significant experience working within a Data Warehouse, Data Platform or equivalent analytics environment.
• Excellent understanding of data modelling, integration, and data value creation concepts.
• Strong command of SQL - mandatory.
• Ability to analyse complex datasets and extract actionable business insights.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong experience designing business-oriented reports and dashboards.
• Good understanding of data visualisation, usability, and storytelling principles.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SAS Visual Analytics.
• Official Microsoft Power BI certification.

Languages

• Fluent in French or Dutch.
• Good understanding of the second national language.
• Ability to work effectively in a bilingual environment.
