Michael Page International (Belgium) is seeking an experienced M&A professional for an energy sector-focused role. You will work with cross-functional teams and external advisors to deliver strategic transactions and robust investment analyses.

The position emphasizes buy-side M&A, modelling, and project finance in renewable energy assets. The successful candidate will have a Master’s in Finance or Economics, 7–10 years in M&A/advisory, and strong communication skills in English (French or Dutch

• 7-10 years of experience in investment banking, other forms of M&A advisory, project finance, valuation.
• Strong financial modelling skills and an understanding of project and corporate finance.
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage work under pressure in a collaborative environment.
• Fluency in English. French or Dutch is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Lead buy-side M&A transactions with the Director, including due diligence and structuring of BESS and PV projects.
• Build and stress-test investment models and translate outputs into investment recommendations.
• Negotiate and optimize key project contracts (PPA, tolling, EPC, O&M/LTSA) with a risk-return lens.
• Ensure projects meet international project finance bankability requirements and optimize cost of capital.
• Contribute to portfolio strategy by assessing future risks and opportunities.
• Monitor execution and validate investment assumptions; prepare performance reports.

About Our Client

Our client is an energy company.

Job Description

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including development, engineering, finance, tax, legal and operations, and senior management, while collaborating with external advisors, lenders, investors and counterparties to deliver strategic projects and transactions.

• Buy-side M&A transaction: Together with the Director, leading financial appraisal, due diligence, and structuring of BESS and PV transactions.
• Modelling: Build and stress-test investment models (revenue, degradation, volatility, constraints) and translate outputs into clear investment recommendations and strategic decision making to the Director.
• Negotiation: Together with Senior Legal evaluate, negotiate, and optimize key project contracts (PPA, tolling, EPC, O&M/LTSA) through a risk-return lens to protect capital and increase value.
• Project Financing: Ensure projects meet international project finance bankability requirements and optimize cost of capital through robust structuring - in charge of document negotiation with equity and debt providers.
• Strategy: Contribute to portfolio strategy by assessing future risks and opportunities (e.g., grid connection models, longer duration assets, alternative technologies, new jurisdictions).
• Monitoring: Monitor execution and early operational performance, validating investment assumptions and driving feedback loops into future decisions (ie. monitoring actual portfolio performance against budgets and forecasts, preparing performance reports including key financial and business metrics).
• Invoices & Budget: Oversees (and be responsible for) cost control, invoice tracking, annual budgeting and financial reporting.

The Successful Applicant

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics or related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in investment banking, other forms of M&A advisory, project finance, valuation, ideally with exposure and/or strong interest for renewable energy and energy transition
• Strong financial modelling skills and an understanding of project and corporate finance
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills
• Ability to manage work under pressure in a collaborative environment
• Commercial, outward looking, and focusing on adding value
• Strong critical thinking and willingness to challenge assumptions constructively across the team (technical, development, commercial)
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across internal and external stakeholders
• Fluency in English. French or Dutch is a plus.
