Job summary

FAO's Forestry Division (NFO) seeks a Forestry Officer for Timber Value Chain and Business Development in Brussels, Belgium. The role involves leading teams, developing value chains, and coordinating with EU and partner offices to advance sustainable forest-based livelihoods.

Advanced degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, with English and French proficiency, are essential. The appointment is fixed-term with potential extension, and assignments may require international travel.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration or public administration, economics or related field.
• Seven years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration, economics or related area.
• Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and French.

Responsibilities

• Plans and leads multidisciplinary teams and participates in committees and project teams.
• Develops technical, analytical, monitoring and reporting frameworks to support programmes and projects.
• Provides technical advice and backstopping to field projects and decentralized offices.
• Guides capacity development and knowledge sharing activities within Member Nations.
• Represents the programme in international meetings and undertakes missions as appropriate.
