Job summary

FAO seeks a Forestry Officer (Timber Value Chain and Business Development) to lead planning, development and implementation of forest programmes. You will provide technical advisory services, capacity building and support for sustainable forest-based value chains and investments.

Role involves collaboration with partners, backstopping field projects, and contributing to policy proposals and innovative approaches in line with FAO frameworks.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree related to business or public administration, economics or social sciences.
• Seven years of relevant project/programme management experience.
• English and French at working proficiency; Spanish desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plans and leads multidisciplinary teams and participates in cross-divisional committees.
• Develops monitoring frameworks, tools, systems and databases for programme delivery.
• Designs research and data activities to support standards, reports and policy proposals.
• Provides technical and policy advice to decentralized offices and field projects.
• Delivers capacity development and knowledge-sharing activities with partners.
• Promotes international cooperation and policy dialogue at meetings.
• Supports resource mobilization following FAO strategy.
• Represents the programme at international and regional meetings.
