Job summary

Cyient Semiconductors in Belgium is seeking an ASIC Validation Engineer to join the Validation Engineering team. You will validate and characterize mixed-signal and analog ICs in Cyient Semiconductors' validation labs, developing test hardware and software to verify silicon against specifications.

You will collaborate with design, layout, product engineering and application teams to deliver high-quality silicon solutions across industrial, automotive and biomedical applications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in ASIC validation, IC characterization, product engineering or related semiconductor role.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics or related field.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Job description

As ASIC Validation Engineer, you will be part of the ASIC Validation Engineering team within Cyient Semiconductors. In this role you will be responsible for the validation and characterization of mixed-signal and analog integrated circuits in Cyient Semiconductors' validation labs. You will design and develop test hardware and software, validate silicon performance against specifications, and support customers in the successful deployment of Cyient Semiconductors IC solutions. You will work closely with design, layout, product engineering and application teams to ensure high-quality silicon products are delivered to customers across industrial, automotive and biomedical applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• A self-motivated validation engineer who collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful silicon bring-up, characterization and product validation.
• Support and promote a culture where a high quality of work, measurement accuracy and documentation are the norm.
• Develop validation strategies, measurement plans and identify equipment/infrastructure needs to verify compliance against IC specifications.
• Design, develop and maintain test hardware, evaluation boards, test scripts and laboratory setups for silicon validation activities and measurement automation.
• Perform electrical characterization, functional validation and performance testing of integrated circuits.
• Analyze measurement data, debug silicon issues and proactively propose solutions in collaboration with design teams.
• Support application and customer teams in technical discussions related to product validation, characterization and system integration.
• Attend project meetings and proactively communicate progress, risks, technical challenges and mitigation plans.
• Drive validation methodology improvements, measurement automation and reusable test practices within the organization.
• Contribute to quality management activities, including issue tracking, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

• Fluent (written and spoken) in English.
• Understanding of semiconductor product development and post-silicon validation methodologies with at least 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including the operation and debugging of mixed-signal integrated circuits.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, source measurement units, logic analyzers, waveform generators and power supplies
• Experience with silicon bring-up, characterization, datasheet validation and correlation of measurement results against simulation and design expectations.
• Experience in schematic capture, PCB design review and development of validation hardware is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in developing test and measurement software using Python, MATLAB or equivalent programming environments.
• Experience with common engineering tools such as Git, Jira, Altium Designer and LabView is an advantage.
• Development knowledge on FPGA and microcontroller systems is a plus.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills to identify silicon, system or measurement setup-related issues.
• Accurate, detail-oriented and committed to high-quality measurement and documentation practices.
• Ability to multitask and proactively identify and solve technical issues.
• Very good technical communication skills, teamwork and problem solving mindset.

Education Level – Minimum Requirement

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in ASIC validation, IC characterization, product engineering, test engineering or a related semiconductor role.

Roles and Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, works with other engineering functions from design through production to design, develop, and implement procedures for testing. Selects testing specifications for ensures testing procedures are in compliance with industry specific standards. Documents procedures and recommendations for all phases of testing. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and less than two years of experience.
