Job summary

Imec, the world-leading research hub in Leuven, Belgium, seeks an ASIC Test Engineer to drive test solutions for customer ICs. You’ll define work packages, set up test flows with test houses, and lead qualification and yield analyses across production ramps.

You have a Master’s in Electronics and extensive ASIC testing experience, with Advantest and Teradyne testers, and you’re willing to travel monthly to subcontractors. English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electronics.
• 10+ years of experience in ASIC testing.
• Extensive experience with Advantest and/or Teradyne testers.
• Knowledge of automotive qualification flows is an asset.
• Experience in project-based work.

• Willing to travel regularly (1 week/month) to sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Define and plan work packages for project stages with the Project Manager.

• Organize volume production after ramp; propose cost improvements with customer and test house.
• Yield analysis of the volume production.

Job description

As ASIC Test Engineer, you work in the Product Engineering unit, part of the Design and System Engineering R&D department. Imec has extensive industrial experience, contacts with leading industrial foundries, and long-standing relationships with all the main EDA tool vendors and IP providers. This unit supports customers worldwide in layout, prototyping, fabrication and testing of advanced electronic products.

What you will do

The Test Engineer for integrated circuit (ASIC) test solutions is the technical support interface between our international customers and test partners. You take responsibility for all the technical aspects of the test solution, including characterization and qualification of our customer’s integrated circuits.

• The definition and overall planning of the work packages of the different project stages, in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Setting up the ASIC test solution with the test house.
• Discussing the ASIC prototype-to-production volume ramp plan with the customer including characterization & qualification.
• Organizing volume production after the volume ramp phase. You propose cost improvement plans such as yield improvement plans, multi-site test solutions and different packaging options together with the customer and test house.
• Yield analysis of the volume production.

You attend regular training courses to master the newest technologies related to the most advanced packaging and test methods.

Who you are

• You have a Master’s degree in Electronics, preferably with more than 10 years of relevant experience in the areas of ASIC testing.
• You have extensive experience with the Advantest and/or Teradyne testers.
• Know-how in the field of automotive qualification flows is an asset.
• You have experience in project-based work.
• You are proactive and customer focused.
• You like to take initiative and are very motivated to work within a team of engineers.
• Good knowledge of English is indispensable.
• You are willing to travel on a regular basis (1week/month) to our sub-contractors.
