Job summary

Wetlands International Europe is seeking a nature-based solutions officer to scale wetland NbS across Europe, accelerating finance and policy delivery for water resilience. You will work at EU policy level to mobilise funds, engage authorities, and build partnerships that turn evidence into scalable action.

The role involves coordinating with policy makers, partners, and financial institutions to close funding gaps and translate complex science into implementable policy and investment

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in environmental policy, sustainable finance, water or natural resource management.
• At least three years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong understanding of EU environmental policies.
• Experience with EU funding programmes and public finance design.
• Ability to work internationally across cultures and languages.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to mobilise finance and engage policymakers to strengthen policy uptake.
• Convene public and private actors to unlock investment in NbS and restoration.
• Develop policy recommendations, briefings and thought-leadership products grounded in evidence.
• Represent Wetlands International Europe in EU policy processes and stakeholder dialogues.
• Communicate project results and lessons learned to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
