The British School of Brussels invites applications for a part-time Gymnastics coach to support the Enrichment Department in delivering year-round gym activities across competitive, development, and recreational sessions.

Sessions occur before/after school and on Saturdays, with weekend competitions in the Benelux and international events. The role requires training/coaching delivery and a willingness to travel, with a pro-rated salary band based on experience.

Qualifications

• First Aid Certificate held or willingness to attend an approved course provided by the school.
• Knowledge of Gymfed.
• French and/or Dutch language ability would be an advantage.
• Ability to drive/own transport for local competitions.

The Role:

The Enrichment Department (responsible for organising extra-curricular activities) is currently looking for a part-time Gymnastics coach for the year round (September – June) BSB Gymnastics programme across our competitive teams, development programme, and recreational sessions.

Training sessions are held on weekdays before and after school (and Saturdays as an option). There are competition commitments on weekends, with our teams participating in a variety of competitions in the Benelux region (September-June) and International tournaments in Term 2 (November-March).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• To act in accordance with school policy and procedures in relation to child protection and safeguarding
• Act as a role model, demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship and develop attitudes in team members which foster respect for opponents, respect for officials and mutual respect
• Take responsibility for ensuring that the equipment is correct and is kept in good working order
• Be available for all home and away competitions
• Attend all coaches meetings
• Make participants aware of their progress
• Attend the season ending tournament(s) and Sports Awards Evening
• Plan and deliver coaching sessions appropriate to the ability of participants
• Take direct responsibility for the conduct of one’s own team(s) / group(s) and have a shared responsibility with coaching colleagues for the members of other BSB teams throughout the season
• Monitor the distribution and collection of gym kit at each competition and throughout the season
• Additionally, some competitions take place in other European countries so a willingness to travel is required

Qualifications / experience

• Provide an up to date First Aid Certificate or be willing to attend an approved course provided by the school
• Knowledge of Gymfed
• Ability to speak French and or Dutch would be an advantage
• Ability to drive/own transport for local competitions

Skills

We are particularly looking for coaches who are flexible, reliable, possess good communication skills in English and enjoy working with children.

Any interested candidates must currently reside in Belgium or be eligible to work in Europe.
