NN Group in Brussels is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to steer the Data, API & Quality domain. You will combine people leadership with technology know-how, linking employees, functional leads, and business stakeholders to drive progress and innovation.

You will coach teams, coordinate initiatives, analyze challenges, and shape modern IT architectures while maintaining a strategic view and hands-on delivery mindset in a dynamic insurance context.

What does your job as an Engineering Team Leader look like?

As an Engineering Team Leader, you will lead and further develop the cross‑functional Data, API & Quality domain. You combine people‑centered leadership with a strong affinity for technology and processes. Acting as the connecting link between employees, functional leads, business stakeholders, and IT teams, you foster collaboration, drive progress, and stimulate innovation across the domain.

To achieve this, you will play a key role in four important areas:

Leadership and Team Development:

• Coach, guide, and develop employees within the cross‑functional domain.
• Foster collaboration between different teams and across departments within the organization.
• Create an inspiring work environment that encourages innovation, entrepreneurship, and ownership.
• Support Functional Leads in achieving their objectives.

Coordination and Follow‑up

• Maintain an overview of all ongoing projects, initiatives, and priorities within the domain.
• Closely monitor open actions, issues, risks, and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure a structured and well‑planned approach to activities across the domain.
• Monitor project progress and ensure proper alignment between business and IT.

Analysis and Continuous Improvement

• Perform high‑level analyses and quickly gain insight into technical situations and challenges.
• Constructively challenge existing ways of working and solutions, and propose improvements.
• Actively monitor market trends and technological innovations, translating them into opportunities for the organization.
• Contribute to the implementation of modern technologies and new ways of working.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

• Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from technical IT professionals to commercial and business‑oriented colleagues.
• Present complex topics clearly and convincingly to diverse audiences.
• Manage differing interests and organizational sensitivities in a diplomatic manner.
• Act as a bridge between business and technology, ensuring optimal collaboration.

This is how you fit perfectly into our team

• Have experience leading IT teams, preferably in a multidisciplinary or cross‑functional environment.
• Have an affinity with Data, APIs, and ideally Software Testing as well.
• Understand the principles of modern IT architectures and technology ecosystems.
• Experience in the insurance sector is an advantage, but not required.
• Can maintain a strategic helicopter view while staying connected to operational reality.
• Work in a structured and organized manner.
• Combine strong analytical skills with a pragmatic, hands‑on mindset.
• Are curious, eager to learn, and open to new technologies and ideas.
• Take initiative and proactively identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Are entrepreneurial and results‑oriented.
• Possess strong people skills and know how to inspire, motivate and coach employees.
• Have an excellent command of English and a good knowledge of Dutch. Knowledge of French is a plus.
